A class action was brought against a chain of beauty schools claiming that it did not pay its employees overtime or provide meal breaks. In preparation for mediation, Bruce L. Ross & Company analyzed payroll information, data exported from the school’s time clock software and employee time sheets, both electronic as well as hardcopy documents. The team worked with human resources to develop a class list, created a spreadsheet model for determining damages based on various assumptions and also worked up statistics related to incidence of overtime and meal break violations. The matter settled at mediation.
